September 20: Introduction to Awareness Through Movement
In Feldenkrais group classes you will be directed through a series of gentle, non-invasive movements that grow increasingly complex. At the same time, you are asked to pay attention to specific sensory feedback focusing on your exploration of movement, breath, muscle tone, and skeletal alignment. Here we look at a few short movement lessons to clarify how this kind of learning provides new coordination and skill while leaving you relaxed, refreshed, and focused.

October 18: Help for sitting upright
Do you wish you could “just relax” and sit comfortably? Do you get backaches after sitting for a long time? Do you want to discover more flexible hip joints without stretching? This workshop will lead to a more comfortable back and hips. You will gain useful tools to reduce strain and effort in any sitting position. New possibilities for comfort will emerge through exploring relationships between the ribs, back, and pelvis.

November 15: Breath and balance
Chronic muscular contraction influences the sensation behind everything we do. It creates a feeling of difficulty, effort, and a loss of sensory acuity. Learn how to let go of adaptive muscular patterns and embody a more balanced internal organization. Use these gentle movement lessons to ameliorate anxiety and live with a new, healthier inner equilibrium.

December 13: Easy shoulders and upper back
The more energy you give to caring for yourself, the more energy you have for everything else. These gentle, inspiring movement lessons give you immediate rewards that enhance daily life. Here we will look at new ways to unravel those pesky tensions between the shoulder blades.

Zoe’s moving blankets

How to get set up for online classes

  1. Set yourself up on your floor on a blanket. Yoga mats are too sticky for this type of movement. Use any blanket you have around the house. Thick moving blankets are optimal, but not necessary.

  2. In case we lie on the side, have a folded towel or blanket nearby to support your head. A pillow is too squishy.

  3. Orient your device so I can see you, if at all possible. It helps me cue the movement and respond better to how each person interprets the lesson. Some people have video on, some have it off, it’s up to you.

  4. Each regular class is about 45 minutes. At the end, I’ll answer questions and take comments. This is optional. You’re welcome to exit class any time. No one’s offended if you need to move on with your day.

  5. Want more help? I offer personal guidance with coaching calls via zoom. Many clients use these to get help with specific issues and detailed suggestions for home practice.
