“I love the clarity of the teaching, Zoe’s voice, the messages she puts in the lessons that help me grow. She teaches Feldenkrais as easily as breathing.”
“Just want to tell you how much I get out of the lessons. I haven’t felt this much ease in a long time. I also appreciate your sense of humor, which is a nice plus.”
Is it for me?
Everyone can benefit from moving better. Most of us have chronic, habitual tension. We hold onto tension because we are used to feeling it and we’ve forgotten what it means to let go. This chronic holding takes a lot of energy and contributes to fatigue, stress, and sometimes injury.
The Feldenkrais Method® is an innovative method of movement education that teaches you to move with greater ease and efficiency so you can enjoy life more. It's also one of the most effective stress reduction techniques around.
Regular Feldenkrais students enjoy better posture, breathing and coordination as well as greater mental and physical flexibility.
By retraining old habits where it counts—in your brain—you can develop more ease, grace, and power no matter where or when you start.
“Quite a while ago, I found Zoe’s lessons and have been doing them regularly. I have done yoga and different sports from an early age, but after just a few of Zoe’s lessons, I felt like I was walking on air.”
Feldenkrais is taught two ways:
Private lessons in Functional Integration® (FI)
In a private lesson, the practitioner’s precise touch guides you through gentle, safe movements to provide new information directly to the neuromuscular system, enabling it to change your organization in gravity and enhance efficiency, coordination, and ease.
Group classes in Awareness Through Movement® (ATM)
In group classes you learn not through muscular strength, but through increased awareness of how the body works. Lying on the floor, you are directed through a series of gentle, non-invasive movements that grow increasingly complex. No experience necessary.

Sample a short Awareness Through Movement® lesson. Lie down on the floor (not the bed), and press play. As with all Feldenkrais lessons, practice listening to yourself in a kind, meditative, spacious way.

“Zoe is a joy to work with. She is positive, funny, calming, and creative. She has brought a new perspective to my body and its patterns.”
How does it work?
The Feldenkrais Method is based on principles of physics, martial arts, biomechanics, and an understanding of learning and human development. Its effectiveness lies in its ability to access the nervous system's innate ability to learn.
Learning is the most powerful aspect of being human. We can learn, over and over again, to choose vivid freedom, creativity and spontaneity instead of react in conditioned ways. But it is not until we are aware of what we need to learn that we can even imagine letting go of our conditioned tension.
The Feldenkrais Method teaches this awareness and provides tools for accessing our original freedom of movement.
Who developed it?
Developed by judo master and physicist, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, the Feldenkrais Method® is based on principles of physics, martial arts, biomechanics, and an understanding of learning and human development. Its effectiveness lies in its ability to access the nervous system's innate ability to learn.
Feldenkrais is suitable for anyone—young or old, physically challenged or physically fit—and is especially helpful for those suffering from muscle and joint pain as well as symptoms of stress and strain. It is also helpful for people with neurological challenges, injuries, and those recovering from surgery.
You might be seeking to improve mobility, get out of pain, acquire self-knowledge, resolve trauma or anxiety, feel more comfortable in your body, or restore balance and stability.
Results include:
Increased sense of relaxation and well being
Relief from muscular tension and associated pain
Improved coordination and flexibility in everyday tasks
Reduced risk for injury
Full and easy breathing, leading to calmer states of mind
Personal growth and learning
“I am an athlete and Zoe’s lessons give me relief from pain. She has an innate body awareness and a complete sensitivity to what I’m experiencing.”
“Feldenkrais lessons with Zoe are the best thing I ever did for my back pain. I learned movements that empowered me to solve my own problems.”
Zoe’s journey
Zoe and Jasper, the amazing rescue pup.
I've been helping people move better, feel better, and live better for over twenty-five years. And, I've been through my own lifelong chronic pain so I get how frustrating it is to want to move better and not know where to look.
I work best with people who are fed up with inefficient, limited movement and desperate to shift out of old patterns. Uncovering new movement is a training, I won't lie to you. (Just think how long it took you to get to where you are now!)
You'll get maximum benefit when you are ready to make a total investment in your own self-development. If you are yearning to move beyond getting out of pain and take back your life, then we are a good fit.
Who I work with:
In my private Functional Integration® practice, I work with people recovering from surgery, accident, or injury, as well as those who are stressed and in pain in daily life.
Often, my clients seek a shift in perception to inform a life change or personal growth. In Feldenkrais, we call this “completing the self-image,” where you increase your understanding of your intentions and directions rather than blindly reacting to life in a neurotic and painful way.
I also help people living with neurological conditions such as TBIs, stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, dystonia, Parkinson’s disease, and more.
When you move with greater ease, all areas of your life are affected, including the quality of your relationships, the clarity of your decision-making, and the level of stress in your life.

My back and leg pain could only be relieved by my sessions with Zoe. When a necessary surgery left me partially paralyzed, Zoe helped me walk again. She explains things very clearly and she has an amazing ability to sense what’s going on in the body. She has changed my life for the better.
